Not so promising next moves
I wonder if Trump can come up with a strategy that could counter his (alleged, at the time of this writing) approved neocon-Israel firsters picks’ ugly impact? The rumor mill churning and the couple of 'almost certain' positions covered so far point to a selection criteria in foreign affairs where the odds seem to favor a more specialized brand of neocons, those who use globalism as a smoke screen, but are really interested only in promoting Israel's interests.
Trump shouldn't have any difficulties having that brand of neocon picks approved by the Congress. Which, otherwise and generally speaking, wouldn't be a simple matter at all, if he didn't make these kind of smelling compromises. Unfortunately, this can't translate into a firm guarantee that he will receive a fair treatment when he will need confirmation for those who we all expect to see in positions of power.
I don't think speculations should go as far as to believe a shrewd plan was put up in place in order to quickly compromise certain actors, by exposing them as hugely dissonant with the message the Americans sent, and, by extension, compromise, while the meal’s still hot, the neocons as a whole, true globalists or Israel firsters globalists alike.
To focus on domestic issues America and hope the nation’s house will be cleaned, while leaving assorted neocons toy with the world as a distraction, is a fallacy. Neocons power base is in America, first and foremost, and they are acutely aware about the hard fact that they can't afford to lose it. So, Trump & MAGA people, i.e. nationalists, will most probably gain nothing but terrible headaches from these compromises.
It might be also seen as a negotiating strategy - swallow the bitter pill first, throw a bone to the rabid pack to keep them busy and on the defensive ('look, you got your share, now shut up !') - but, again, it doesn't work with that ilk, which truly believes they are overlords who deserve all. Honestly, it hurts Trump image more, and fast, than any potential, slowly developing, backstage advantages.
America can't save itself in the shadows. Way past that opportunity, I’m afraid, now only bold, open, political action can achieve results. Democracy blabber aside, why would anyone play on his adversary's turf, where he'd find himself at a clear disadvantage !?
