Israel's destruction of Gaza may ruin anti-establishment candidates chances in US elections
Anti-establishment… take it with a grain of salt, naturally.
Who are these candidates ? Well… Trump. I could throw in RFK Jr. too, though I’m skeptical of his chances under any astral configuration, because he could have brought to the table some clearly anti-system topics in which he truly believes. After positioning himself firmly in the neocon foreign policy universe, his credibility will unavoidably drop like a rock.
Speaking of rocks, Trump was more careful, but he is caught between a rock and a hard place. His Republican base holds a significant number of Israel first voters motivated by faith and/or jingoistic tendencies, who were tamed lately by the serious failures in Iraq and Afghanistan, but now, with the rallying call under the ‘Defend Israel’ banner that the neocon chicken hawks embraced with a sigh of relief, those tendencies and their irrational motivations have been inflamed anew.
Normally, America first in domestic policies and Israel first in foreign policy, could coexist and allow a smooth campaign in 2024, but in the current context the package is lethal. Trump’s message essential points gravitate around the fundamental issue: the accelerated decline of USA and how to address it. Not always directly expressed, for various reasons, Trump nevertheless hinted to a few mandatory objectives without which no remedy is credible. One of these objectives, a cornerstone for any future successful attempts to stop USA’s decline, must be disengagement from too many foreign entanglements, followed by a drastic reform of both the diplomatic apparatus and military complex who have become parasitic and are mainly fed exactly by those resources draining entanglements.
Trump, as the least bellicose president in a long time, and who led a rather successful, even if somewhat nebulous, policy in the Middle East, will most probably have to take the ‘pledge of allegiance’ for Israel, in the current toxic and intolerant ambience maintained by the deep state propaganda machine. Which is a lose-lose choice. The main target of the induced, artificial fanaticism are the clearly thinking, patriotic Americans, already subject to censorship, discrimination and repression. The not so solid, but indispensable base who could insure a certain degree of resistance against institutionalized electoral theft and from within which could be recruited those candidates for the Congress who could dilute the poisonous level of the RINO-Demo combine perfected by the deep state.
Once the both morally and practically unsustainable Israel first policy is fully embraced by Trump, the neocon serum forced running through his veins will paralyze any meaningful America first disentanglement initiative and chase away or ruin the chances of many reliable people Trump desperately needs near and around him in order to avoid being isolated and defeated, as it happened in his first term and his first re-election attempt.
